Your first product video with TurboUGC

This guide takes you from a TikTok Shop product link to a finished 10-second product video you can download and post. It uses Hold & Show, the simplest format, and the free trial, since the Free plan doesn't make videos.

Key takeaways

  • Free doesn't make videos; the trial gives 310 credits for 3 days (two Hold & Show videos at 480p), then Creator at $60 a month unless you cancel.
  • Paste a TikTok Shop link, tick and star good photos, and run Hold & Show at 480p for 155 credits; failed runs give their credits back.
  • Check the product against the listing, then post it yourself with the commercial content disclosure turned on.

Before you start

You need a TikTok Shop product you're allowed to promote, and its link. TurboUGC makes the video; you post it yourself, from your own TikTok account.

The Free plan includes your Library, your products and the first 10 results of any Research search, but it doesn't generate video. To make your first video, start the free trial of the Creator plan: you add a card on our payment processor's page and pay $0 today. You get 310 credits for 3 days, enough for two Hold & Show videos at 480p. When the 3 days are up, Creator starts at $60 a month unless you cancel first. Cancelling takes one click in Settings → Plan & billing, and if you cancel during the trial you're never charged. There's one trial per person and per card.

The steps

  1. Sign in. Continue with your Google account, or ask for a code by email.
  2. Add the product. Open Workflow, press Add a product and paste the TikTok Shop link. TurboUGC brings in the title, price and up to 12 listing photos, usually within about a minute. No link? Upload 1 to 12 photos and a title instead.
  3. Start the trial. Press Start 3-day free trial on the Creator plan, read the terms, tick the box and add your card.
  4. Open Hold & Show. It's in Create, under Start from a formula. A hand holds the product up to the camera. It never turns.
  5. Pick the product and its photos. Choose your product, then tick the photos the model may use and star the one that leads. Star a sharp, front-on photo with the label readable. Leave out photos with a person's face, other colors and ad graphics.
  6. Check the settings. Quality starts at 480p. Sound and the AI voiceover start on; turn either off if you prefer. Turn on Text overlay if you want a line of text on the video; it's free.
  7. Run. The button shows the price first: 155 credits for one video at 480p, 8 to plan the shot and 147 for the clip. The video renders in the background, and you can leave the page. If the clip fails, its credits come back automatically; the 8 credits for planning stay charged.
  8. Watch it, then download. The finished video appears under the run and in your Library, tagged Hold & Show. Download it from either place.

Check it before you post

Watch the whole video once with sound and once without. Then check the product against the listing:

  • Is it the right product, in the right color and size?
  • Are the label and the printed words correct?
  • Does every item in the set appear, if the listing sells a set?
  • Does the voiceover say only what the listing or the label supports?

If something is off, don't post that take. Make another, or try different photos. TikTok Shop's AI content policy says the product in your video has to match the product people receive, and TurboUGC's AI content policy reminds you that AI can get a product, a label or a claim wrong.

Post it in the TikTok app

Upload the video in the TikTok app as you would any shoppable video, and before you post:

  • add the product link from your showcase;
  • turn on the commercial content disclosure, which TikTok's Branded Content Policy requires when you earn a commission;
  • name the product in the caption, and say the voice is AI-generated if you kept the voiceover.

Add yourself where you can

TikTok Shop's quality requirements for US creators ask that product videos feature your face and the physical product, and its content policy counts videos where the creator doesn't speak, appear or meaningfully present the product as low-quality. A Hold & Show video shows a hand and the product, not you. If you can, add your own voice or a short clip of yourself before you post, and mix AI videos with videos you film.

What to do with the second video

The trial covers one more Hold & Show at 480p. Use it on the same product with Box Open to compare formats, or on a second product. Either way, you'll know before day 3 whether to keep Creator, which brings 5,000 credits a month: about 32 Hold & Show videos at 480p.
