Key takeaways
- Hold & Show and Box Open suit most beauty products and never open or apply them; film texture or application yourself.
- TikTok Shop bans medical, wellness and timeline claims and treats before-and-after visuals and result-enhancing filters as misleading.
- Show the product rather than a result and never present an AI person as a real customer.
The formats that fit
Most beauty products fit in one hand: serums, creams, cleansers, lipsticks, compacts, brushes, tools. That makes them a good match for TurboUGC's two hand-held formats.
- Hold & Show keeps the front of the product toward the camera for all 10 seconds, so the brand name and the printed words stay readable. The step that plans the shot reads the words printed on the product from your photos and tells the video model to keep them.
- Box Open opens a plain brown shipping box to reveal the product, which suits sets and gift-style products.
Both cost 155 credits at 480p or 338 at 720p. In both, the product stays closed: nothing gets pumped, squeezed, applied or swatched. Hold & Show ends with the product set down; Box Open ends with it held up to the camera. If the texture or the application is your selling point, film that part yourself. A real swatch on your own skin is also the honest way to show it.

The rules that matter most
TikTok Shop's US rules for health-related content (updated 2 September 2026) and its content policy (updated 9 October 2026) apply to every video and LIVE that promotes a product, including the on-screen text, the voiceover and the caption.
Medical claims. For products that aren't over-the-counter drugs, you can't say or imply that a product can diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate or prevent any disease or medical condition. Over-the-counter products can only make the claims on their Drug Facts label.
Wellness claims. You can't say a product prevents or cures any condition of physical, mental or emotional well-being, even with a disclaimer.
Results and timelines. The content policy gives skincare examples of exaggerated promises it prohibits, including "This product removes acne in only a few days" and showing wrinkles disappearing in before-and-after comparisons after using a cream.
Before-and-after and filters. The health rules list before-and-after photos, edited images, filters and digital effects that may artificially enhance or imply results as misleading visuals, with limited exceptions such as skin-tightening examples shown with a disclaimer.
Some products can't be sold at all. TikTok Shop's prohibited products include cannabidiol (CBD) beauty products. Beauty supplements are a gated category: to promote them you need a recent sales record or a steady record of good content.
The rules for AI in beauty videos
TikTok Shop's AI content policy (updated 2 September 2026) draws some of its examples from this category, such as shampoo that "instantly grows hair". You can't use AI to show unrealistic results, to change a product's size, color or material, or to make it look different from the product page. You can't use AI to fabricate a professional, such as a doctor or a scientist, who endorses a product.
Three habits keep you clear:
- Show the product, not a result. A product video that shows the bottle, the label and the packaging makes no claim about your skin.
- Never present an AI person as a real customer. TurboUGC's avatars are AI presenters. Our AI content policy says never to present one as a real customer, a real expert or a real person who used the product.
Words that stay inside the lines
The voiceover in Hold & Show follows rules written for this: no first person, no claimed experience or results, no health, skin or cure words unless the listing title or the label uses them, and no price, deal or urgency. Read it anyway before you post. You are the one publishing it.
For on-screen text, stick to what the product is and what the label says: the product type, the size, a key ingredient that's printed on the pack. "Vitamin C serum, 30 ml" is a fact. "Fades dark spots in a week" is a claim TikTok Shop will ask you to prove.
A simple plan for one beauty product
- Pick one hero photo with the front and label sharp, and tick one or two more of the same product.
- Run Hold & Show at 480p to see how the product comes out.
- Check the label, the color and the shape against the listing.
- Add a one-line text overlay with the product type and size.
- If you want to show texture or application, film it on your own skin and post it as a separate video.
- When you post, turn on the commercial content disclosure.
